Why continuity in learning is an advantage
Oct 2020
It is helpful to recognize that although stress and pressure may cause children to do their tasks, it generally tends to have a negative effect on the learning process.
The KUMON method focuses on familiarising children with the tasks and linking them to what motivates the child. KUMON attaches great importance to both the content of the worksheets and the daily routine of learning. The duration is adapted to the child's ability to concentrate and the content is simple and builds on the child's existing knowledge to avoid a negative learning attitude. The quantity and the level of difficulty are gradually increased so that the:
- the joy of learning is discovered and the child's ability to concentrate improves, along with willingness to learn.
- Child becomes accustomed to daily exercises, which will gradually become an integral part of everyday life.
- Child realises that they can do anything if they put their minds to it.
